First Chinese New Year!

新年快乐!(Happy Chinese New Year!!)

I've seen some pretty amazing fireworks shows in Canada and in China, but tonight was the most immersive one I have ever experienced. I could look in absolutely any direction around me and be able to see tons of fireworks. At precisely midnight the sound was almost deafening. It was so funny to hear all these car alarms go off because of the commotion.

The Chinese invented gunpowder and fireworks around 800-900 years ago (I was curious so I checked wikipedia while watching the fireworks). The same skill and passion for fireworks was quite on display tonight. I was amazed that the rest of Jetaime's family could sleep through them. Haha, and I was thinking that if a country ever wanted to invade another country that celebrated with fireworks it would be the perfect cover because they are so lound and sound just like what I assume guns and missiles might sound like. But anyways, it was a fun night and tomorrow should hold much more food, relatives to meet, we get to give Hong Bao, and maybe some rest time too (hopefully!!)
